2way radio - which and where (in Munchen) to buy
I'm travelling for ski vacation to Kitzbuhel with mu family.
I will need at least a pair of 2way radios. I found that Midland's are getting good reviews - not sure they are available in Europe (?) I am flying to Munchen - any recommendations on shops for the radios there? Thanx in advance, Paul |

Oh sure - loads of people use ordinary over-the-counter walkie-talkies in France and the rest of Europe. As long as you get ones that work within the approved spectrum, it'll be no problem. -- Champ |

As long as you get ones that work within the approved spectrum, it'll be no problem. We've used a pair of Motorola TA200 and T5422 in France several times and they've been fine. They have a range of 3Km (2 miles) but are "line of sight". i.e. Anything in the way cuts down the range. However, so long as you are on the same side of the mountain they are great for meeting up with lost companions. We got the last pair from a website in the UK that were pretty good (I have no affiliation with them) http://www.twoway-radio.co.uk/ and having just looked at it again I fancy a pair of Talkr T5s as they list 6km range. It is ammusing to watch them trying to communicate with someone in Arc 2000 when they are in 1800. You must be in the same valley for them to work and I am not sure if they will work from Villaroger to Arc 2000. We use mobile phones either texting or phoning. Since we use them at most once a day the cost does't work out too expensive. John |
