"Jay Tegeder" wrote in message om... Jeff's knicker picture reminds me of my old knicker outfit. I had one of those fancy polyester Odlo knicker suits. It was blue. I thought I was pretty cool. I skied the 1984 American Birkebeiner in that suit. At about the 40K mark, a 5'3", 180 pound woman strided past me going up a hill. Oh yeah, she was wearing jeans... Jay Tegeder "Keep training, lycra never lies!" JT I get beat by people (M and F) in jeans and/ or flannel shirts all the time. My excuse is that they're 15-30 years younger than me. Makes me think I should dress that way though. I also get beat by a lot of geriatrics in lycra. 8-( grissy |

Actually, they have decent camber and are quite sporty, but there were probably quite a few race models way back when and I'd like to do it right. I can't tell enough from the ebay pics here. Madshus Birkies? The Birkies are nice skis but not racers. About three hours before you posted your interest in wooden racig skis a pair of Bonna 1700s went for 50 bucks on eBay. I'm assuming a ski like that was getting into racing territory as thier heavy touring model was the 2400, touring 2200, light touring 2000 and 1800. (Greg Fangel, please correct me if I'm wrong.). There was a pair of unmounted Jarvinens early this winter that certainly looked like narrow racing skis but the auctionee obviously didn't know much about them. They still went for almost 100 bucks so they must have been valuable to someone. g.c. Is there anyway to get into eBay auction archives? |

Anyone know a good source for knicker socks? I looked A LOT a few years back and never did find a great source. Many are too coarse. http://www.akers-ski.com/Merchant2/m...ory_Code=socks Ski Exuberantly, Hank Mammoth Lakes, Calif. |

Especially not #52. If you look, he appears to have his left pole and right ski on the snow - note shadow under right pole tip. Marsh, I'm shocked. I suggest you go out and try to herringbone with that high, relatively back posture, wide articulated hips, skis much wider that the incline calls for, and a high poling hand. He's in a very good, powerful single sticking position: his right ski glide and poling is ending and he's turned toward the left ski, with his right hand coming forward, about to pole in coordination with his left ski. If I one eyewitness and that obvious of a photo, that would be enough to DQ him in my opinion. Gene |
