binding screws
Got a pair of new Volkl skis and new Marker bindings but screws to mount
were lost. Is there a standard type/size screw used to mount bindings? Thanks for any input. Al remove .nospam if emailing me |

They'll have 'em at any shop that's qualified to mount/adjust Marker bindings. They may charge you an extra buck for the screws, but that shouldn't be a big deal. Binding mount screws have PosiDrive #3 heads (similar to a Philips, but better.) You can strip the head using a Philips on a PosiDrive head. Get a PosiDrive #3 screwdriver before doing any binding mounting/tightening. The screws are different lengths depending on the binding hole they go into, so as not to penetrate the base. You can fake it with stainless steel Philips head screws, cut and ground to the right length for each hole - I've done that, when I inserted a homemade plate under a binding and wanted to run the binding screws through the plate into the ski in the same holes; better is to find a shop with a supply of real PosiDrive binding screws, willing to sale a few screws (not too likely, unless you have them mount the bindings.) Or buy some old skis from a garage sale, with similar bindings, and salvage the screws. |
