Default Hotel recommendation in Moutiers ?

Dear All,

5 of us are travelling down to La Tania for a couple of weeks skiing and
have been looking at travel options:

a) Fly and transfer

b) Ski train from Waterloo to Moutiers (the charter one with couchettes not
the SNCF one)

c) Ski train from Paris to Moutier (SNCF one with couchettes)

d) Eurostar overnight to Moutiers (first class to allow for at least some
sleep !)

e) Eurostar during the day on Friday plus a hotel overnight in Moutiers
ready for an early start skiing on the Saturday.

Our conclusions a

a) cuts off a days skiing at either end of the holiday.
b) Can't be booked for a two week holiday (return must be the following
Saturday)
c) Can't be booked that far in advance and tends to fill up quickly.
d) Expensive, but the cattle class seats are not suited for sleeping. And
skiing tired is a recipie for accidents !

Which leaves e) as a nice option. Travel down during Friday means we get to
see France as we are whisked through the countryside. We can then enjoy a
nice meal in Moutiers and a comfy night in a hotel. So....

Heres the question :

Can anyone recommend any cheap, clean friendly hotels that will take a one
night booking at the time of year (first two weeks in Feb), plus a 2nd night
for the way back ?

Only 10 weeks to go !

Cheers,

Ben.

I've stayed in the IBIS at Moutiers a couple of times, should be bookable
over the Internet http://www.ibishotel.com/ibis/index.html

You might look at Albertville as well, there seems to be a number of cheap
hotels there as well.

Sorry if i am missing something, but if you can travel by train on the
Friday then surely you could also use Fly/ transfer on Friday as well.
This would have the additional benefit of slightly cheaper flights and
less crowed transfer conditions.

It's a fair point ! We have in our party, one person who *hates* flying and
one who feels that flying is environmentaly disgracefull.

The Ibis in Moutiers is full for that night, I've only managed to find phone
numbers for the other hotels, I'll give them a ring and see...

Cheers,

Ben.
