live in sacramento want to see if skating would be worth taking up as a
sport. sure, why not? will be taking lessons soda springs. you mean Royal Gouge? any advice would be greatly appreciated especially where to learn technique and what equipment to buy and where. Join Auburn Ski Club and take the clinics they have from time to time. i assume you start with some boots that fit? what length ski/poles? i am 5 feet 91/2" weigh 162 pounds. go to Pacos in Truckee or Sierra Nordic in Soda Springs and ask them. should i find some used stuff on Ebay or buy new? Only buy on eBay if you really know what you're doing. b t |

i assume you start with some boots that fit? what length ski/poles? i am 5 feet 91/2" weigh 162 pounds. should i find some used stuff on Ebay or buy new? First, rent 3-4 times and see if you like it. Royal Gorge has good stuff for rent. If you like it, get Salo combi boots and Fischer Nordic Cruiser "Pacers" for your weight (161 cm ?)- these skis are great for beginner skaters, have a good quality base, and are fun. My wife who is a good skater and has high-end skating skis, uses them for training, and as rock skis. I'd avoid ebay for skis and boots. Poles, bindings, - fine. |

OK we went to Royal Gorge i rented some 161 skis took a lesson and
figured out that i can skate or pole but i have trouble doing both at the same time. they closed 80 while we were going home and a train derailed at soda springs so i think we did well... my friends tell me to get short skis (like 160) and everything i read says get them according to my weight or height. i had a lot of fun and am looking to buy something that i can train on and have good form. should i get short skis? i need to climb cause i will be doing some climbing on these skis. thankyou. |

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii If you live where going to Royal Gorge for lessons is an option, I'll repeat Bryant Tolle's oft-repeated advice: get thee to Pacos in Truckee and have them help you out. They can answer all your questions and set you on the path to simultaneous skating and poling bliss. When you can get over Donner Pass, that is... Chris Cline SLC, UT Where we're getting the left-overs from the Sierra storms in the form of intense rain and incredible amounts of snow and waterweight in the higher mountains. Right now I have a Class II gutter flowing through the parking lot outside of my office! wintermutt wrote: OK we went to Royal Gorge i rented some 161 skis took a lesson and figured out that i can skate or pole but i have trouble doing both at the same time. they closed 80 while we were going home and a train derailed at soda springs so i think we did well... my friends tell me to get short skis (like 160) and everything i read says get them according to my weight or height. i had a lot of fun and am looking to buy something that i can train on and have good form. should i get short skis? i need to climb cause i will be doing some climbing on these skis. thankyou. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
