Default bootfitting again

Well I'd decided to buy new boots in Tignes, but thought I would give a
local UK outfit the chance first. A friend recently had some boots
altered there and was impressed. It's not one of the big chains but an
independent.

I went in today to see if they could do anything with my old boots,
answer no. So I tried on about 6 pairs of assorted boots, no foot
measuring, and to sum up none of them were correct for me. Credit the
guy for telling me that. Either hurt in toe area like my existing boot
as I have a high instep, or it felt like my foot was in a bucket.

I've just spoken to Nevada Sports in Tignes and booked an appointment
for bootfitting as soon as I arrive in resort next month. I'm hoping
they will sort me out!

I thought Precision were the normal recommendation from here? Oh, hang
on, that's Val, isn't it. I've never used either of them for fittingm,
although Nevada are pretty helpful in general.

Precision are pretty good - their crew this year are all die-hard,
repeat seasonaires who've worked in the Favre group for years. Not sure
what the Val d'Is shop is like this year, but the guy that's managing
Black Cats over there this year (again, part of the Favre group) is
very sound.

I think the Nevada boot fitters on the Rue de la Poste is the one with
the ex-French team guy?

Makes sense - ISTR a lot of race posters there when I bought some
boots 7-8 years back. End of season reducedm they were, and I just
picked them off the shelf and tried them on. Fitted perfectly, so
didn't need any 'fitting' as such.

He has a daughter who races at a high level, if I remember correctly....

In passing, after several good reports and some great help with my own
boot fit, I've added the Christina Sports (in Arc 1600) details he

I've included their rates, haven't checked what the standard costs are
elsewhere recently, so no idea how they compare. How competitive are
they next to fitting in the UK, anyone know?

Shame Nevada closed down in Bourg.

I was under the impression that Nevada was the ex French Team guy, I
think it was Pete who suggested them. reading around, it seems that all
they do is boots, so I'm hopeful. My current boots are just too
painful, after ten minutes at xscape I'm ready to pack in, and that's
not because of the snow :-)

Kids will be getting kitted up in Precision in Val Claret while I am
getting boots done. Helpful to have a non skiing wife.

I'll report back next month.

Bill
