A week of heli (27 drops in 5 days). Probably the best trip I will ever make - I think it'll be a long time before I get the same combination of snow, weather, terrain and all round ambience. It was like staring in my own snowboard video. MPEG! I thought you'd never ask :-) Only got back in the office this morning! Switters, a name you should recognise from ukrm (but doesn't post here) Of course I know who he is, but you obviously don't read enough here to notice that he's also a nearly-regular. is a dab hand with the old video editing, and has cut a 'taster' of his Russian footage. I think it looks superb http://www.vpas.fsnet.co.uk/powpow/T...fOfDreams.html Bit too small really (I'm limited to Windows Media Player and have my screen on 1600*1280 res) but looks pretty good, yes. Also, got a couple of very rough bits of footage of yours truly on my site: www.champ.org.uk/boards/videos.htm Ah, that's better. Looks good. I managed a few decent powder/guide days in VT as well. Nearly a kilometer vertical of untracked down into the Maurienne valley was *nice*. -- Ace (brucedotrogers a.t rochedotcom) Ski Club of Great Britain - http://www.skiclub.co.uk All opinions expressed are personal and in no way represent those of the Ski Club. |

Something like 5C at 2200m I think, but with a Northerly wind, the south slopes were feeling hotter than that. I don't mind the slush being on a board, but of course the moguls get stacked up in a busy place like that - not bad for a quick blast on the bumps but I get bored of them quickly. They closed one of the main runs back to St Anton because it runs under a large south facing slope which was spontaneously letting go in the afternoons. Some of the North facing slopes though were in pretty good nick right to the end. I was still finding nice powder on Friday, albeit chopped up. I feel for the poor buggers that went out on Saturday, as it was raining hard to 3000m. At least they won't get panda eyes with silly white stripes going to their ears. - Dave. -- The only powder to get high on, falls from the sky. http://www.vpas.org/ - Snowboarding the worlds pow pow - Securing your e-mail |
