Not round here any longer. It's 3C and there's snow mixed in with the rain.
Bring back summer!

Who needs snow - it only brings tourists - but at least we get to eat :-)

will it have sod all affect on the coming season?

Greg

Well the opening weekend is usually late enough to be ok. The last
couple of years I've done Courchevel on the opening weekends (the only
time I can afford to ski there to be honest) and the snow has been good.
Last year it snowed a lot in November then got hot in December which
ruined the Christmas snow, then it snowed again just in time for my
holiday in January. This seems a pretty common weather pattern but
after this summer who knows what surprised are in store.

Anyway this is the great October r.s.r.e snow debate. I don't really
think October snow is much to get excited about, it is far too early and
there are far too many warm days left in store in a normal autumn. Last
October I was basking in 20+C temperatures by the banks of the Lac
Lauvittel at 2000 meters.

Still it will help the Tignes pisteurs fill in some of the crevasses on
the Grand Motte.

*waves*

Certainly a lot visible on the Ballon d'Alsace, as well as in the Jura
to the south, which is (the bit I can see) only about 1000m or so. No
frosts at our level yet, but it's not going to be long now. I'll be
bringing the chillis and other summer plants indoors tonight...

The view coming home from work today was very winterly in Zurich with snow

Still hoping to match last years Flumserberg season start of Nov 10th.

Yeah - but a lot of it had melted by the middle of December - I
remember going up and finding it raining around then :-(

If I'm not mistaken some of the Jura and Vosges resorts opened in early
November last year.

There were cars coming into town (Neuchatel) with snow on this morning so I
guess there was snow up in Chaux de Fond and Vue des Alpes.

Thanks for nothing :-(

And on the way to the office I get a great panorama across from around
Gstaad via the pre-alpes to the Bernese Oberland all of which you can see
from here got a lot of new snow over the last few days. Not an office day:-(
