Default Trail Maint; Battery Hedge trimmer?

Trail Maintenance Question
I have been cleaning up some almost forgotten trails and am looking for
some trail maintenance advice;
Mostly I don’t think we are supposed to use gas power equipment (at
least on the state land) Would it be ok to use battery powered stuff? In
particular, a hedge trimmer for grass and cattails, and creeping charlie
etc. I find the “swisher” really makes my elbows hurt after I have used
it for a few hours.
Anybody know how long a batt pack lasts on one of these?
Any brands a bunch better than others?
Any brands that have other tools that use the same battery pack for
maybe other useful tools?

I have not had much luck with consumer grade power tools for trail
maintenance. Hand tool work better. A hand saw, lopper and a scythe for
the big, medium and smaller weeds respectively. Don't try to cut
everything with the same tool! Keep everything sharp and this is not a bad
solution. A machete is a very useful tool also, but, I'd bet you would have
trouble using one on public lands. Too much like a weapon.

For fast work, rent a DR brush mower to do the bulk of the work on the edges
of your trails. Use a Stihl string trimmer for the places the mower won't
go. Use a "mixed cutting" wheel on the Stihl unless you have mostly grasses,
then use square trimming string.

Of course, the power tools need to be kept sharp too.
