any news in safe bindings

I am looking now to buy new skis (for powder, crud, off-pistes) and
bindings. I had a serious knee injury 2 years ego. I would appreciate
any advice on 'safest' bindings on the market, and on skis.

I have heard that there are bindings that have an upward toe
release...Marker, maybe? That, in theory, gives you some added
protection against one of the typical mechanisms of ACL injury; dunno if
there are drawbacks associated. Whether that would help _you_ is
another matter, however. It depends on the nature of your injury and
what, if anything, it makes you more vulnerable to than the average
person. There are a lot of types of knee injury, and they have
different causes. I'd talk to your doctor about what your
vulnerabilities are and then go from there.
