Default One more question on Jannes videos

I have been enjoying Janne's video clips for a couple of seasons now
and I have been thinking about a couple of things. First, I'd like to
be able to watch these guys on full sized TV rather than at my PC and
secondly, I'd like to be able to share some of these races with a few
of my brethren who are not blessed with a fast internet connection.

For the TV thing, I'd like to append the segments together and make
one long race segment rather than 5 or 6 shorter pieces. I believe
that someone posted a method for doing that a few weeks ago but my
google seach didn't turn it up. Is this perhaps something that the
recently discussed virtualdub software would be able to accomplish?

Also, I know there is freeware available that will translate AVI files
to standard that works on a TV. If I shop around really hard, I've
found I can get an external DVD writer for $90 or so. This would
solve my TV viewing problem as well as allow me to share races with
friends. My question is this: has anyone done this before? If so,
what is the image quality like?

Thanks in advance for any help.

well, the main problem with transfering to video is the quality of the
picture. the files are relatively small so that they can be
downloaded easier, but because of that the picture must remain small
to be crisp. try doubling the size of the screen next time you watch
one, and notice how much the quality of the image goes down. If you
really want to, you can use Nero burning software to create a VCD i
think, but when i tried, the reasults were less than stellar.

A possibly easier solution is to put the files on a laptop with a video =

out, then hook the laptop up to your TV. I've been trying it just now =

using an s-video cable from my laptop on a 36" or so widescreen TV--it =

works. But as others have pointed out, the resolution is lousy when blo=

up to full screen on the laptop, & the problem is just magnified on the =

big screen...I don't think there's any way around the resolution issue.
