I would suggest checking out the interior BC areas and other parts of the Rockies in Canada with the exception of Whistler. You asked for reasons to back this up - easy ... just take a good look at the exchange rates between US and Canada. Your US dollars will take you further in Canada and the skiing, especially in Western Canada is great. But can somebody from the US easily pick up temporary work here and there to help with the expenses? Just askin'... -- //-Walt // // http://cagle.slate.msn.com/working/040514/matson.gif |

I'm going to have to find a job in Jackson, It is too difficult for a
U.S citizen to work in Canada, so I'm looking for the best place in U.S.. I'm going to be a working ski bum, if there's suck a thing. I'm heading up there the end of October to look for that trailer. Thanks for advice. |

Anyone have any better ideas as to where to live this winter?? Please back up your answers as to why its' a better place than Jackson Hole. I think there's a camper somewhere near the gym with a spare berth. Take earplugs... Yeah, whatever happened to Whatshisname? -- Cheers, Bev ================================================= It's not the speed that kills, it's the stopping. |

I'm wondering on what do you base the conclusion that it is too hard for you to work here. Lots of resorts here seem to employ lots of Australians, I'm certain the only reason I don't NOTICE as many merkins is because they sound pretty much like we do, southerners and easterners notwithstanding. Have you actually done any research, made a few phone calls, or has somebody told you its impossible? If I could make one other coment - October may be too late. I think most of the job fairs will take place in Sept. Good luck, what ever you decide. Wish I was still at a time in my life where I could join you. |

The Australians are on a Commonwealth countries working holiday visa scheme. They apply, and get one that lasts a year, it's a one-off though. You ahve to be under 30 to do it. Some non-Commonwealth countries have joined the scheme, but I don't think the US is party to it. ant |

We got a 51 year old guy who's lost 50 lbs in the last 6 months up the Middle Teton Labor Day Weekend in ****ty, icy, conditions. We have 9 months of winter and 3 months of ****ty skiing. The NE snowfield of the South Teton has been skiable all summer. The Teton Glacier never melted down to blue ice. A gonzo snowboarder whahienie gal was heading up to ride the Teepee Glacier with 6" of fresh on it three weeks ago.
