I agree with this sentiment. With the exception of Santorum, I'll vote for Republicans on the state and local level, but the national Republican Party is beholden to nutters. The Democratic party isn't much better. Is Gore and Kerry the best they can put up? They have got to do better. (After Presidents Reagan and Bush II, it is impossible for me to construct the phrase "fiscally conservative" without laughing.) Look at the new budget proposal. Then look at the Dems that are crying foul to all the budget cuts. Both sides have been horrible for decades. |

And yes, GW did win but that doesn't mean there is not a problem. I would think the republicans would want to fix problems since they are in the majority. Both sides want to fix the problem. Its not just one sided. Not even close. It's not just Ohio or Florida either. These problems exist nationwide and effect both Rep and Dem and everyone else all the same. |

Actually, I most certainly do confront liars and assholes and call them exactly what they are in the real world. With witnesses. Doesn't happen very often. Because NO ONE has ever had the balls to talk to me in person the way you freaks do on the net. I wonder why? Why do you think? Possibly because they have no desire to talk to someone of your foulness in person? Or are you attempting to show your schoolyard charm to boost your own ego? |

The Democratic party isn't much better. Is Gore and Kerry the best they can put up? Apparently. Why else would they put up jerks who they KNOW must be losers? Having that level of out-of-touchedness is in itself an indication of ineptitude. They have got to do better. The odds are against it happening, but the Repubs aren't much better. I just can't figure out why people like Bush and Kerry are choosen to run when there are much better choices in both parties. However, it seems to me that whenever I hear a democrat bring up the fix the voting process issue, all I hear from republicians is the 'sore loser' response. As far as republicians bringing up the question, maybe it's me but I just haven't ever seen that happen yet and I do watch a lot of cable news (including Fox). Being a computer geek for many years, I can tell you that there are major problems with electronic voting. I've been following the issue for quite some time now and it's appalling what some of these touchscreen companies are trying to get away with. Why is there such resistance to having printouts for verification and recount purposes? snoig |

Because when the Dems talk about fixing the problems they continually point to Ohio and Florida and in those two states only discuss issues where Dems were negatively effected. That bias is a sore loser response. The Dems can't admit defeat. They want to put blame somewhere other than their own party. As far as republicians bringing up the question, maybe it's me but I just haven't ever seen that happen yet and I do watch a lot of cable news (including Fox). Its on the news but much of the media ignores what it choses. When the hoopala was in Florida it was well known that there were far more rejected ballots in Arizona than in FL. Yet the media paid no attention. Why? Because Gore didn't pay attention to the AZ problem either. In this past election Dems yelled about long lines at Dem dominated polling areas with accusations of Rep manipulation. Did they say anything about the long Rep lines elsewhere? Hell no. Here in AZ there were lines of up to 6 hours at Rep dominated regions. It was mentioned but the difference is that the Reps here didn't go blaming the Dems for attempted manipulation. Being a computer geek for many years, I can tell you that there are major problems with electronic voting. I've been following the issue for quite some time now and it's appalling what some of these touchscreen companies are trying to get away with. Why is there such resistance to having printouts for verification and recount purposes? There was nothing wrong with the current butterfly ballots either. But so many, especially Dems made a huge fuss about them that a push for the electronic machines was made. The problem is with the voters. Any method has a margin of error. When the vote spread is lower than the margin you can bet a mess will occur. I agree, I have no idea why these new machines sometimes lack hard copy records. Makes no sense. |

I don't know, I've seen some shows where Dems were talking about voting and specificly saying it's not just Ohio and Florida and they still got the sore loser response. I think it just a small percentage of Dems that can't admit defeat just like it's a small percentage or Reps that pull out the sore loser response. It's just that's what the media likes to focus on so that's what you see on cable news. Besides, if it were the other way 'round you would still see the same thing happening. Or, could it be AZ - 10 votes, FL - 27 votes. Plus, AZ was a red state. If they lost, I'm sure you would see them blaming the Dems. Well, we're pretty much in agreement here. The real issue is making the voting process have as small a MOE as possible. I think the public is pretty much in agreement here, we just need to convince the lawmakers. Remember, the only difference between the two parties is the Dems like to tax and spend while the Reps like to borrow and spend. snoig |
