Snowboarding or skiing?
"ACey" wrote in message This is so true. Unless you live in the mountains and can ski pretty much all winter, you'll have real difficulty getting beyond intermediate level skiing - it just demands too much time input to progress. From that point, boarding is much better, as it seems to be a continuous learning curve, whereas with skiing you reach a plateau. If you get stuck, it's time to take a lesson. When I started teaching, and participating in instructor clinics, my skiing improved drastically. Similarly for my snowboarding. Bob |

Snowboarding or skiing?
"Joe Ramirez" wrote in message ... There is no ecological reason to exclude snowboards. This is not like snowmobiles in Yellowstone; this is mere snobbery. Why should some citizens be denied a right of recreation on federal land that is extended to other citizens, and in fact to noncitizens as well? My theory on this is that not allowing snowboarding eliminates a huge number of obnoxious, inconsiderate, rude, and perhaps dangerous people - otherwise known as teenage boys. I'm sure that much of the grevance that some skiers have about snowboarders started when most riders were teenage boys. That has changed a lot now. Bob |

Bob And to paraphrase (i believe) Jake Burton from some interview or something a few years back..."people have a negative image of snowboarders because of the actions of a few. Before snowboards, there were fewer young people on the slopes, and nobody was spitting from the chairlifts." Nowhere close to his actual words, but you get the idea. |
