Trail maps for Lillehammer & Hamar areas
I found a ski trail map for the Lillehammer-Sjusjøen-Nordseter area at:
"http://sjusjoen-sport.no/kart/" If you "click" on a section of the map you get a detailed version of that area, plus the dates when each section was last prepared. Another nice network of trails is just north of Hamar, southern "Hedmarks Vidda" Map of these at: "http://www.hht.no/hytt_sti/skikart.htm" ( a big 350kb GIF file, takes time to load) There is at least 1 trail connecting this network to the Lillehammer trails. (Målia-Brumundsetra-Lavlia-Sjusjøen) Someday, if I get back to Norway again, I'd like to ski from at least Gåsbu to Sjusjøen, (53 km) or maybe even Hamar-Lillehammer (80+ km!) -- David Dermott , Wolfville Ridge, Nova Scotia, Canada email: WWW pages: http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/dermott/ |

Trail maps for Lillehammer & Hamar areas
I notice that now, as opposed to last year there is little if any snow in
either Norway or Sweden. Last year I skied around the Oslo area just after the New Year during a very very severe cold snap. Unlike this year, I think the Norwegians were already skiing at this time. I even checked Mora Sweden and found that as of now......no snow. Mark "David Dermott" wrote in message ... We do have less snow than last year, but they have at least been skiing around Gausta (Rjukan, Telemark) for a while. :-) Terje -- - "almost all programming can be viewed as an exercise in caching" |

It's still only mid-November. There were some reports of prepared ski trails in the higher elevations of Oslo Marka in late Oct, but most of the snow has apparently melted. But I notice a picture taken today (Nov 18): "http://www.skiforeningen.no/imgshow.cgi?nr=2307" Jørgen Fog couldn't wait any longer so he went skiing on Bogstad golf course. (Hmm, checking topo map of Oslo) Bogstad is at a fairly low altitude. The lake is 145 m a.s.l. -- David Dermott , Wolfville Ridge, Nova Scotia, Canada email: WWW pages: http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/dermott/ |

Bogstad more or less defines the southern end of Nordmarka: If you can ski there, you should be able to ski anywhere, except that we had a few inches of snow yesterday, and he went skiing on those before they melted (as they did overnight around our home which is nearly at sea level).
