Tahoe area resorts, how does Boreal stack up?
I've been to Boreal, several times, but I've not been to any of the
other Tahoe area ski resorts. I'd be grateful for opinions comparing Boreal to the other resorts. I'm not really interested in amenities or lodging, just ski facilities and stuff like that. Runs, lifts, access, parking, etc. I'm most especially interested in ski resorts in the northern area, say from Alpine on north, the ones that are (relatively) close to Reno. Thanks, Lisa |

Thanks, Lisa Boreal is tiny compared to most of the others. I like Mt. Rose and when they open the chutes and replace the east bowl chair this summer, it will be substantially improved. Sugar Bowl also is a nice area though they seem to believe they can charge Squaw Valley rates. Homewood is a lot of fun and has some of the best storm skiing in the basin. I prefer Donner Ski Ranch to Boreal, it has a tad bit more variety and spreads people out a bit more. Diamond Peak is OK, more of a family area and Squawllywood, is , well, Squawllywood. Alpine Meadows is a skiers mountain, lot's of great bowl skiing and plenty of steeps. And next week, I get to see for myself what Alpine is like Lisa |
