Default Volants: to buy or not to buy

Hello everybody,

My skiing level is 8/9 according to
http://www.snowandrock.com/advice/bu...uides_skis.asp. I enjoy the
long giant style turn on the piste, and I ski off-piste a lot.

I still use my rather long (198cm) K2magic4. I like them on the piste,
but they are too heavy to carry them off-piste (attached to the
rucksack), and needs some efforts to force them to ride in the deep snow
(except the powder where they are OK)
Even though I was trying some newer skis but so far I haven't found
anything which would be really superior to these old magics...

But last week I had opportunity to ride on Volants Machete MF. They were
really great skis to me... on- and off- piste. The only thing is the
terrain was not steep enough to test them properly.
They costs about 250 euro - good price - I think.
But a couple of days ago I saw other Volants in a skiing shop.
The prices are the same but they were older models - from the season
2002/2003.
Genesis Gold and Silver, Machete Soul, Gravity 68 and 71.

Have you use these skis? Any opinions, please...?

TIA
