conditions: Tahoe vs. eastern Sierras

I am hoping to do some light backcountry touring in either Tahoe (e.g.
Roundtop) or the Eastern Sierras (e.g. in the Mammoth area, or Rock
Creek) in a week. My impression is that the Eastern Sierras really
hasn't gotten that much snow since the big dump in Oct (and the one
foot last weekend). Would I have better luck with the Tahoe area??

Mammoth got about 1 to 1.5' additional last Saturday, there is plenty
of snow above 8000' for touring, i skied the tracks most of last week
and did some touring around the visitor center in town on Saturday
when it was dumping.
