Default Tahoe accommodations

The only place at Tahoe where I know of good value in motel accommodations is south lake.
(e.g. the Best Western near Heavenly). But I haven't found anything close to a similar value in
Tahoe City. Or near Sierra at Tahoe.

Any suggestions for acommodations convenient to Homewood or Alpine? Near Sierra at Tahoe?
Anybody here stay at the Strawberry Lodge (which is the only lodging I know of near Sierra)?

Mostly I just want single night, which I think eliminates a lot of the vacation condo rentals.

I've stayed at Granlibakken the two times I've been to Tahoe. Great
breakfast buffet. They have a skiiers package but if you are doing
Homewood and Alpine it might be cheaper to just do the room and get
your own tickets.

I've stayed there a couple of times too. 3 night stay minumum unfortunately.
At least for when I want it.

Oh well.

No good for mountains on the west of the lake, but we used the Best
Western in Carson City for access to Kirkwood and Heavenly over New
Year, and it was cheap and available.
