Default Snow in Norway?

From Vegard Ulvang's blog 12/29 at the Tour de Ski site:

See you again after the sprint in Prague tomorrow. I wish I was there.
Oslo can report +5C, rain and green grass. Even my father in Kirkenes
at 70 degrees North cannot ski yet for the first time in history during
Christmas time.... Something is terribly wrong somewhere.....

I agree that something's wrong.

Fortunately, up here in Rauland, at 900-1000 m altitude conditions are
simply great:

Today I went for a 2-hour ski tour with my sister Eli, here's a (cell
phone) snapshot taken towards Raulandsfjell ("The Rauland Mountains"):

About 3 or 4 degrees below zero, blue skies, a little breeze from NW,
and the forecast is for the same weather until we have to go home after
New Year.

Terje

PS. The track setters carry a GPS and use a cell phone packet (GPRS)
uplink to create realtime images of the trail system as they prepare it
each morning:

On today's image, our cabin is located by the '1' in the green block
marked 05:14, i.e. pretty close to the center of the trail system.

I've got your Eli on my desktop. Thanks for the pic.

We've also got your snow. Its falling as rain in North England.
I've missed stages 2 and 3 of the Tour de Ski on Eurosport, the
driving horizontal rain hitting the sat dish
destroys the picture and the strong wind is threatening to shake the
dish off the wall.
