Do you remember those double decked snowboard like contraptions. No
bindings. You just hopped on them like on a skate board. I haven't seen
any of this year. Come to think of it, I didn't see any last year either.
Is this a fad that died or is it still surviving some where? Just
curious.

I saw a few kids using them last year. I don't remember if I saw a tether
on them, they looked dangerous to me especially to other snow riders.

I can't remember which mountain I was at that I seen these awkward
looking boards.

Quite a few years ago (1991), a local inventor came up with a
contraption like described above. A board on top of a pair
of skis which did various desirable things when you shifted
your weight on the board. No thether, but a brake which
actually worked. I saw one for rent at Mt. Baker two years
ago.

VtSkier, how was the skiing out west? Did you meet up with
taichiskiing? Well, I hope you had a great time while you
were out there. Did it snow up there in Killington yet? Is the
snow condition worth a 7-8 hour drive up?

There are still a few around here at Sierra-at-Tahoe and Heavenly, even
ride the lift up with a "girl" once. They ride like a skateboarder, and
they are getting better each time I see them, even got some bigger
board and doing tricks in the terrain park too, guess that they start
to get the bugs out, but I think that they are also suffering the
shortfall like the skiing counter part--ski-blade--they are just a bit
too light weight for the mountains, imo.
