Lightweight Turtlefur 'Beanie' Hats ?
Does anyone know where you can get the really lightweight Turtlefur
'beanie' hats? For the 2003 National Masters the organizers gave out these lightweight Turtlefur beanie hats. When I first saw it I said: "Beanie hats! ... those are dorky!" But then I started wearing it. Damn, it was the best hat I ever owned. I wore it every day last winter. Then this spring I pulled a dumb-ass and lost it. So I went on a web search to find another just like it. No luck. At socks.com I bought a Turtlefur 'Tassle Beanie' - this was much heavier than the hat I lost, too heavy for xc skiing. I also bought a Turtlefur 'Windtech Beanie'. These would probably be great for alpine skiing. But they suck for xc skiing. They don't breath and your head gets really wet (compared to the lightweight TF beanies). I see on the TF web site that they made a lightweight version for the Rossy team. Does anyone sell these? Preferably without ski company markings on them? Or does anyone have a 2003 Nat Masters hat they don't wear and would trade for $$$$ !!?!! Thanks, Tim K. |

I got mine at http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/st...6& image.y=15
and i like it. Do not get "double folded variety". Headband from the same fabric works well too. |

Send a note to and ask for a Minnesota Youth Ski Leauge Turtlefur hat. It's the lightweight tassle hat. Comes in red and black, I think. And any profit goes to a really good cause (and I think we ask all of about $12 for it. Hey, I'm beginning to realize that this must be the same as the hat that the local youth ski group sold as a fund raiser a few years ago. I wear mine lots, and Damn, it's the best hat I've ever owned. Hope I never lose it, like I did with the Peruvian wool hat that I still miss Erik |
