Okemo or Loon
Hi all,
I'm planning a trip for my group are our choices have come down to Okemo or Loon. I've heard both good and bad things about each area but the biggest concern is crowds on the slopes. We will be there for Presidents weekend but will be skiing on fri/sat. I'm sure the biggest crowds will be on sat/sun. Has anyone been to these places on prior Presidents weekends. If so, how are the crowds. I've skied places where you wait for 1/2 hour on the lift line, which is unacceptable, but if the wait is only 10 minutes that is tolerable. Also has anyone stayed at the Pointe Hotel in Okema or the River Green Resort in Loon. Any comments about these ski areas or hotels is greatly appreciated. Thank You Joe V |

We already know that you are a stupid dumb****, since you will be skiing on President's Day weekend. You belong here. |

The only time I ever skied Loon, it was all EasternFirm(tm) everywhere. Seemed like a nice little mountain, however. As for President's weekend, I wouldn't plan to be able to avoid horrendous crowds at any ski area anywhere. Friday before may be OK, but Saturday will be BAD. But then, go find a local and ski with him. Get up early, ski until 11:00AM, it will start to crowd up at that time. Go in for an early lunch. Go back out at 12:15 and quit at 2PM. Get an early start on 12oz curls. |

PS: *ignore the man behind the curtain. We always try to find a different place to ski each year. Stowe was our 1st choice but too expensive. One person recommended Okemo and we found a place to stay when someone read reviews about long lift lines and panic set in. So I recommended Loon where I skied years ago and enjoyed it. I know there are other places to go but I'm not running the show, just trying to help a panicking sister-in-law . We finally are back to Okemo as our ski destination for this year. |

Imagine how your sister in law would panic if she read all the vile jokes about molesting children here. Or the death threats. Or the real world stalking. You, too, can be called a child molester and your sister in law would find out. Better run.... |

Okemo or Loon
Try Bolton Valley. It is one of the areas in the Stowe vacinity. Compared to
Stowe it it is smallerand has less expert trails. It gets better snow usually than Stowe since it is a mtn. or two closer to Lake Champlain. What it may lack in size and expert terain it makes up in conditions and the lack of long lift lines. Most people traveling this far are going to Stowe or Sugarbush. On crowded weekends you will get a larger number of runs in. You can stay on the mtn which is expensive, or Waterbury, or Burlington. |
