Courcheval 1650 questions
Nic Pillinger wrote:
hi hopefully someone can help me with a few questions. there are a group of us planning on going to courcheval 1650 on 13 december for 5 days. we didn't realise it only opened on that day! so a few things any idea how much of the lift system will be open? because its the first weekend will it be excessively busy? is it a pain in the arse to get over to 1850 on a snowboard (drag lifts eek etc.)? what's the nightlife like in 1650? should we be considering going somewhere else? lots of questions I know, thanks in advance! I have been on opening weekend a couple of times - last time (2 years ago I think) it was terrible, just 1 run open, but that was down to the snow or lack of it. Previous time it was much better. It certainly won't all be open, but how low down it goes is anyone's guess and will depend on how much snow they get. You may not be able to link over from 1650 at all, never started from there, so don't know, and don't know how good/bad it is for a boarder either. As for going somewhere else - Val Thorens might be a better bet as it's a bit higher but still in the 3V and has a glacier. But apart from that, it's just luck of the draw. Of course for that weekend you could leave it to the last minute to decide where to go as there will be plenty pf accom. everywhere. Good luck ! Rog |

Will depend on the weather... because its the first weekend will it be excessively busy? Very much doubt it. is it a pain in the arse to get over to 1850 on a snowboard (drag lifts eek etc.)? I can't remember any compulsory drag lifts, but I don't know for sure. Have a look on the piste map, they must have one on line. what's the nightlife like in 1650? Not much realy, a couple of bars, nothing like Val or Merihell. should we be considering going somewhere else? Don't see why, but if you really want nightlife you may end up getting a lot of cabs to 1800! lots of questions I know, thanks in advance! cheers ~ If emailing, please use: Steve_A_Haigh ~ @ ~ hotmail.com ~ |
