Default Old Great Bear Chase (Calumet, MI) Results

I'm getting back into ski racing this winter, and as such am wishing I
had saved my results from back in the day. In particular, I'm
interested in the 1991 Great Bear Chase in Calumet, Michigan. The
organizers don't have these results in an easy-to-find form (i.e.,
electronic files), but recommended that I post something here in case
anyone has the results for that race. I believe I skied the shorter of
the two races (i.e., not the 50-something kilometer race), and I would
have been in the 18-year-old age group. Any help is appreciated. Thank
you.

Wishing I still had those springy legs,

Christopher

Huh?

2007-1991 = 16
18+16 = 34

If you're 34-35 years old, there's absolutely no reason for not beating
your own results as an 18-year old!
:-)

Terje

PS.
I'm wishing I still had my 36-year old max heart rate of nearly 240,
today (50 years old) I'm at about 185+ with a max O2 of 56 ml/kg.

OTOH, I'm still able to sustain a 170+ bpm average over an orienteering
competition, this should be about 92-93% of max, and in most sports
that's pretty high, right?

Thanks for the encouragement, Terje! I don't doubt that I can beat my
younger self's time (if I can find out what it is), but just the same
I do wish my (34-y.o.) knees didn't creak quite so much. If there's
one thing motivating me to get back to racing now, it's what you and
another respondent, as well as other posters here, have suggested -
being able to get faster and faster - and keep that ability to keep
the HR up for long periods. (Back when I skied this particular race,
one entrant was already a legend, a then 70-something old Finlander
who I noticed still finished last year's 26km classic race as the only
person in the 80+ age group.)
