Help with union suit / one piece base layer
I'd like to get a one-piece base layer this year, but I'm not finding
many options. I've heard good things about the tech fabrics like polypropylene and coolmax, and I did find two polypropylene suits: http://www.americanwave.com/sportpag...baselayer.html http://outersports.com/men_s_100_pol...nion_suit.html However, I was hoping to find something from a trusted brand like Marmot or Patagonia. Can anyone recommend a once-piece base layer? Thank you. |

You may not consider them a trusted brand, but in Canada you'll see more MEC gear on the hill than anything else. Here's the union suit they offer: http://tinyurl.com/8ccnq Neil |

I bought a new jacket at the weekend and looked at about 7 different ones. The MEC one I finally chose seemed the best in terms of being light and waterproof, plus it had pockets in the right places - something sadly missing from other jackets. I'd never heard of them before but the sales guy assured me they were good jackets. - Dave. -- The only powder to get high on, falls from the sky. http://www.vpas.org/ - Snowboarding the worlds pow pow - Securing your e-mail The Snowboard FAQ lives here - http://rssFAQ.org/ |

The only way you'll beat MEC for quality/price is if you find a top-end brand like Mountain Hardwear or Arcteryx at a 40% or better discount. I don't think North Face compares anymore, last I looked at their stuff it seemed mediocre. MEC gear is well thought out, bomb-proof, and you can choose your price/performance point for materials all the way up to GoreTex XCR. The only thing they're not is particularily stylish, although they aren't ugly. One thing to watch though is that a lot of the good winter stuff sells out early, so if you end up looking for something later in the season you can be out of luck. Neil |
