I don't have a chart, but 335 usually corresponded to about a US Men's 9 or
9 1/2. HTH, -- mark "alex" wrote in message om... I've got a pair of old solomon boots that are stamped with 335. I know solomon had their own sizing for a while and wondered what size these boots are. does anyone have a chart online that I can look at? thanks - Alex |

The number stamped on the boot is the *outside* length of the boot expressed in millimeters, and is commonly called 'boot sole length'. It's used to fit the boot to the binding and to determine the DIN release settings. While the sole length is loosely correlated with what's going on inside the boot, it's not a proxy for what is usually thought of as shoe size, which is determined by the *inside* length of the boot. . IOW, the sole length is used to fit the boot to the binding. The shoe size is used to fit your foot to the boot. They're not the same thing. 335 merely means that the boot is 335 millimeters from toe to heel on the outside. -- // Walt // // There is no Volkl Conspiracy |

Foot size is also stamped on the shells of many, if not all boot shells. One way to tell the difference is that the sole length will have "mm" after it (i.e., 331mm) while the foot size will not have any unit after it. And, yes, 335 was a very common foot size in Solomon's proprietary sizing system. -- mark |

No Alex, My memory from about 15 years ago is that Salomon did indeed have a sizing system which wall their own. The size 335 does not relate to the sole length. In fact the 335 was about the middle of the size range for adult boots. It was the size we used in the rental shop for release testing our rental bindings. 335 then, is about a size 8. For comparison, my size 10 (mondo 28) modern Salomons have a sole length of 325mm. Salomon had their rental boots and bindings set up as a system. It was so easy that you only had to look at the chart for the DIN setting. The boot size was stamped on the binding. You just set the heel to the boot size. If we got in a non-Salomon boot, THEN we had to go through the rigamarole of looking up the forward pressure setting based on sole length. In fact we didn't trust the length stamped on the sole, we measured each one. RW |

old solomon boot sizing - chart? size 335?
330 and 335 were the same boot length, the 5 indicating slightly wider
