Congrats to BarryB, PSIA-E Master Teacher
I happened to be glancing through the Spring 2004 edition of SnowPro
and just noticed the announcement. Congrats !!! That is a huge accomplishment that obviously took years of dedication and hard work. If by any chance you still occasionally log in on RSA, you should obviously be proud of yourself, and your students will benefit from your expertise although most probably won't realize how lucky they are. Cheers |

Barry was/is one of the good guys; I hope he does once again develop the nerves of steel required to post about skiing on a skiing group. He consistently had good comments (even if he does use those short shapely skis. grin) If by any chance you still occasionally log in on RSA, you should obviously be proud of yourself, and your students will benefit from your expertise although most probably won't realize how lucky they are. I was starting to wonder if any of the old timers were still around and would understand who I was referring to. I hope he does once again develop the nerves of steel required to post about skiing on a skiing group. err ... THIS skiing group. Congrats to BarryB, PSIA-E Master Teacher
Wow, that is a worthy achievement. (I just wish the badge was a bit more
impressive! I suggested an old-fashioned sized gold one, with the person's name engraved on it). Several of my friends had this, and I spent many an hour in the locker room and on the chairs, picking their brains. It takes a LOT of time and effort to get this qualification. I hope the rest of the country takes up Eastern Division's initiative and institutes it nationally. Well done Barry. ant |

"BrritSki" wrote in message ... Congrats to Barry from here too, but exactly what is this award ??? Master Teacher is an initiative of the Eastern Division of PSIA. It is aimed at people who want to go through to level III, but might lack the fitness or youth to tackle some of the skiing tasks...or maybe they just want a different stream. Master Teacher involves doing a series of learning modules, and being assessed in each one before being passed. From memory, it's 20-something of them. It takes a few years to do, and is very expensive. It's more academic, more thorough, more 'meaty' (to my view, anyway). It's recognised there as the equivalent of PSIA III, I don't know if it gets ISIA recognition. I found my colleagues with this qual had a lot of very interesting knowledge. ant |
