Grande Terche & PdS Lift Pass
Hi,
I'm thinking about spending a day at La Grande Terche at the weekend. It appears that the Chevrerie sector isn't covered on the PdS pass. Does anybody know how much I'm going to have to cough up for the extension, and is it worth it? Cheers. Iain. |

What you'll find is a small resort with only a few pistes, as you'll be able to see from the lift map. But there is a reasonable off-piste potential, albeit not the most challenging in the world, and only a very small proportion of skiers using it. So if the snow's good and you want to ski some nice powder then yes, it'll be worth it. You might also consider going the other way, depending on where you're staying of course, to Pras de Lys, between les Gets and Tanninges. Somewhat larger then la GT, with a decent number of pistes as well as more off-piste stuff. Of the two, that's where I'd more likely go, although I don't know if you'll even get a reduction for having a PdS lift pass. |

I'm staying in la Chapelle d'Abondance and looking forward to a nobby-no-mates (and no family) weekend of crossing-off the two main bits of PdS I haven't got to yet, Grande Terche and the far side of Les Gets. From a snow point of view it's looking promising. I guess what I'm hoping for in GT is empty pistes with lots of accessible powder around the periphery. Empty pistes may be a bit optimistic mid Feb. though I guess. Also, I've boarded Chatel/Linga to Les Gets and back without a problem, and also La Chapelle (via Morgins and Avoriaz) to Linga without a problem. I'm tempted to go for La Chapelle to the far side of Les Gets (i.e. the full crescent) and back to Linga, but I suspect that the return journey will be overly 'exciting' and probably doomed. Cheers. Iain. |
