"FionaG" wrote in message oups.com... I never thought my question would give rise to so many different (and heated) opinions! I was simply concerned that my daughter got the best tuition possible as I am not confident enough to teach her myself (especially on my own) and she learns much better from a professional. You will all be glad to know that I have a friend with another 6-year old girl and we have booked a holiday together. We will put the girls in ski school together in the morning and take them out ourselves in the afternoon. I hope I can no longer be accused of being a selfish mother! Thanks to all who offered useful advice. FionaG Have a lovely time. |

The professionals are really good at this and I'm sure she'll learn a lot and have a good time. Those comments were out of order. It'll be a great break for everyone. We have 4 children and have had some good skiing holidays. Thanks to all who offered useful advice. Have a good trip. -- Adrian |

"FionaG" wrote in message oups.com... I am thinking of taking my six year-old skiing with me for a week at Easter (leaving husband behind to work!). She has skied several times before, so is no longer a beginner. Can anyone recommend a resort and operator where I could take her where she could be looked after all day, including English-speaking ski school, so I could get some skiing in myself? Thanks for any advice. FionaG Go to Courchevel 1850 and use Supreme Ski school, very good with children and English instructors (well some Aussies etc but proper English spoken) Did this with my 4 children a few years ago for mornings and skied as a family in the afternoon. Worked a treat! David |

[...] Or you could just book her in for 2 or 3 hours of lessons in the morning and ski together in the afternoons. Found this to be successful with a six year old. He skied in ski-school in the morning and with his father, grandfather and grand oncle funkraum in the afternoon. He was a smart boy and calculated if he said he was too tired when it came to the afternoon then he could ski in a 'V' with his father holding him. This worked well until they were broadsided by a snowboarder who was looking backwards and not forwards. A snowboard instructor leading a ski school in this case. His 115kilo father absorbed the impact and the only injury was to the authority of the snowboard instructor who was most apologetic. |
