Dumbass question. Always Timberline. Always.
I'm more interested in the question: which dickless freak is going to
be the first to spew his **** in person?
Yeah, right. Dumbass question. Never going to happen.

Here a Killington we made it November 2 last year. We were pretty much
open all winter from then on.

A couple of other eastern ski areas did open earlier, but had to close
again for lack of snow.

Management here wanted to go as soon as possible but held off until it
was pretty clear it wouldn't be a false start.

For early season in past years K has used trucks to ferry skiers to the
base of a chair, rode that chair, skied an upper lift then downloaded
the first chair to the base and truck back.

Starting last year you could ride the K1 gondola to the peak, ski down
to North Ridge chair, ski there all day, go back to the peak via the
"Stairway to Heaven" which is a wood walkway and step combination and
then download K1. No truck, good aerobic exercise. That first day I did
it 3 times. First time to see what it was all about, second for lunch at
the Peak Restaurant and third for end of day. Three times was a bit much
for an old duffer like me so I resolved to walk it no more than twice
thereafter. Oh, and than Ullr for alpine touring boots. Other people
trucked in regular shoes so they wouldn't have wear ski boots on the
walkway.

Timberline on Mt Hood is open year round, except for two weeks in
September when they shut down for lift maintenance. They'll re-open
Sept 17th this year. That's probably your answer right there.

Other than Timberline, the North American Ski season gets going sometime
in October with a few resorts open. Usually Loveland and A-Basin are
the first to open (~mid Oct), although smaller (and higher elevation)
resorts around Tahoe such as Boreal sometimes beat them to opening day.

Brighton is usually first in Utah, and manage to open in October about
half the time.

Killington and Sunday River are often first in the East, sometimes
opening in October (but this is not usual).

Ski Brule is almost always first in the midwest, with occasional October
openings.

Cataloochee is usually first in the south, and even though it's in North
Carolina, it opened in October a couple of years ago.

Tony Crocker's site (http://bestsnow.net/) has year-by-year historical
opening dates if you want to mine that.

No idea about Europe or Asia...
South America and Australia don't count since their seasons are reversed
compared to ours.

Hey, asshole? Got any comment on your buddy Horvath posting my home
address?
Of course not. The mere fact that you are civil to that freak says
all any decent person needs to know about you.
