I've managed to blag myself a second weeks skiing this year by joining a
group of friends going to Neiderau (beggars, choosers etc). I'm no gung-ho
expert but I've looked at the reviews and its seems a little tame (which
will suit most of the party). Is this correct and does anyone have any
advice for more challenging skiing in the region - it's a package holiday so
we don't have car.

The skiing in the Wildschonau is fairly limited, as you suggest. There
are two main areas (Neiderau and Auffach) plus a very small area at
Oberau, all linked by free ski bus.

If you are with a Tour Operator, they almost all do day trips to other
areas one or two days per week. At a cost, of course.

You can also quite reasonably reach the Ski Welt area by bus - one
down to Worgl then another to Soll or Hopfgarten. If you get the
Kitbuheler alpen allstar pass, it includes both the Wildschonau and
Ski Welt (plus a variety of other areas that aren't as easy to reach).
I think the difference between the Wildschonau 6 day pass and the
Kitzbuheler allstar pass is less then the cost of two single day
passes for another area.
