I just run across the tidbit that French skiers refered to Langes'
original boots as "plastique fantastique," presumably when the first
Langes were released in 1964.

The question? Did the Jefferson Airplane independently reinvent the
phrase "Plastic Fantastic [Lover]" or was there a secret Francophile
skier amongst them in the 1960s?

Yes, but they were so narrow that they weren't very popular.
