Default DIY Swiss Rail Tickets

You can now print your own tickets for Swiss rail, so it you are visiting or
just travelling in Switzerland all you need is your passport / ID card
number and a VISA card and you can do everything online, just like you would
with EasyJet or British Airways.

Rooty-toot!

ahh we've had that for ages with French railways, plus our trains
actually run a bit quicker than Thomas the Tank engine!

Do third-world countries like England have this as well?

I don't think so - I tried to book train tickets for a visit there over
the summer but they would neither post them to France nor do paperless
versions. I would have to go to the ticket off and pick them up.

If someone knows better I'd be interested.

Still the Brits are currently building a 19km long underground stretch
of TGV line from St Pancrasse station. The trains will run at 300km/h
unerground and this is the most expensive stretch of high speed railway
in the world. St Pancrasse new staton is also the largest building
project in Europe. The French have dubbed it the 8th wonder of the world!

Wonder if it will be finished on time and on budget?

I must get out more - one day out of Laax since early May.

Dunno about time & budget, but the tunnel is there already - I've seen
pictures in the paper and it's pretty impressive.

The new St Pancras looks pretty huge. The old front it being kept,
which is good news as it's one of the most spectacular buildings in
London (IMHO). No idea what the new station looks like beyond that, it
was all screened off last time I was there.

I imagine there are worse places to be stuck in:-)
