skiing "bible"?

Can anyone recommend a good book on skiing technique. If it's free heel downhill then Paul Parker's "Free Heel Skiing". If it's nordic in general (including track, downhill and backcountry) then Ned Gilette and John Dostal's "Cross Countrry Skiing". Can't help you with alpine, I'm afraid. But I've found that though books do help, a good teacher helps a lot more. Books can't look at what you're doing and point out problems you didn't realise were there, or give you exercises clearly relevant to you, based on your strengths and weaknesses.
