Is anyone going to be able to record and make a torrent of the upcoming world cup races in Beitostolen? It would be much appreciated.

I'm in the same boat as you. From what I can recall though, Oskar said that he'd be recording it in full quality, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

I believe torrents are our best bet. Unless someone has a free server with a decent upload spreed, but I doubt that. Torrents haven't been that bad, we can get the races distrubuted within a day of it being uploaded.

Heads up to all hose (like me) using comcast as their ISP:

http://torrentfreak.com/comcast-thro...ng-impossible/

http://torrentfreak.com/how-to-bypas...ttling-071021/

summary: comcast is blocking bittorrent traffic to/from its customers in
a very sneaky way. It may be illegal, but they're doing it anyway. The
result is that comcast users may be leaches on the torrent.

I'll try to swarm as best I can - the second link lists some work-arounds.

I'm not sure what you're asking. BitTorrent is both an app and a P2P
protocol. _Any_ app that runs the bitTorrent protocol is blocked from
uploading by comcast. Comcast isn't fully admitting it and it appears
that not all comcast customers are affected (yet). We (rsn race video
sharers) could use a different protocol, but comcast is clearly trying
to shut down all P2P traffic claiming that it's within their rights to
"traffic shape".

I agree with doogiski that torrents are the best way we have (without a
dedicated server) and I'm exploring my options regarding ISP to participate.

I assumed that if you uploaded to another torrent site, such as Azeurus
or a number of others, you weren't using bitTorrent. Is that
incorrect?

No, Azeurus is a bitTorrent client so it will suffer the same fate as
bitTorrent, bitComet, uTorrent, BitTornado, BitLord, etc. BTW: The
upload site is known as a tracker. It doesn't get the video file; It
gets a tracker file that tells other bitTorrent clients where to get the
actual video file pieces (sort of - I'm simplifying).

Look, we'll see how it goes when we have some files to share. If comcast
users have problems, we'll figure out some other way.
