TR: October Skiing

_ I went up I80 to the Castle Peak area and skiied out to Round
Valley and up Basin Peak. There was quite a bit of snow, more
like mid-November conditions than late October. There was 2-4
feet of snow above 7000 feet and it was the typical mix of
powder, frozen suncrust and wet glop depending on the aspect.

_ It was a typical first day of the season. I was slow, not used
to the altitude and made terrible turns (ie. one of the best days
I've spent outside since early May). I was quite suprised by the
number of tracks, pretty much everything with an hour or two of
the trail head had been skied at least once.
