Big Mountain/Whitefish suggestions?
I'm heading out to Big Mountain next week and staying in Whitefish. Any
suggestions for places to eat, cafes, bars, etc? What about tips on the mountain itself? Dave |

I've taken Amtrak to Whitefish several times from Everett, Washington. I
prefer to stay in town, use the free bus to get to the mountain, and walk to restaurants in the evening. Last December we stayed at the Pine Lodge, which is a very nice motel within walking distance (15 minutes) of downtown restaurants. Rocky Mountain Lodge is also fine but is a bit farther from town. The best restaurants last trip were the Wasabi Grill and Oyster Bar (separate operations in the same building). I've also stayed at Ptarmigan Village, which are condos on the mountain a few miles from the ski area. Transportation was a bit of a hassle without a car. "Dave Stallard" wrote in message ... Dave I stay at the Alpineglow which sits right next to the lift. There isn't a whole lot happening in town. Kjell Petersen is a great ski instructor at Big Mountain and has been there for years. He can tell you everything you need to know about Big Mountain and Whitefish. His e-mail address is either or tell him JQ referred you. Hope you have a great time there as I always do. If it is a clear day the site of Glacier National Park from the mountain top is a most beautiful view, it is a must see! My first time there my friend told me to look out the window of the mountain top restaurant and I thought I was looking at panoramic picture and not the real thing. I had to go out side the build to look for myself. JQ Dancing on the edge |

Don't do the cat skiing. It's too flat and too many trees for the pitch and
others can hike in and eat your turf. JS |
