Which speeds things up a little, and changes the outlook on the way up, as you'll see... Next new thing in Flaine, development-wise, will be Le Centaure - MGM's 4-star appartment complex, scheduled for delivery at Christmas 2011. Yeah, that was bein planned when I last repped there in Jan 2008 Although I kinda liked the old ones... Chariande I and II, right? And no - not the Intrawest (-commenced) Montsoleil build but a shiny, new creation to coexist with the original Breuer apartment blocks. This explains why the style will be very contemporary, unlike the traditional Alpine feel you've come to associate with this constructor. But then it is Flaine. All the same, expect a few eyebrows to be raised: http://www.mgm-constructeur.com/prop...-centaure.html Roger www.mountainpassions.com - an Online Magazine with Altitude |

As for architecture - well, in Flaine anything would be an improvement, so I see no reason for this to be a problem. -- Ace Ski Club of Great Britain http://www.skiclub.co.uk/ All opinions expressed are those of the poster and in no way reflect those of the Ski Club or its members |

The first time I went into that valley last year, one of the (for me) return lifts was closed and the queue for the other was huge. Made me a bit cautious about leaving it late to return. Given the rather dank recess where it's being put, as Ace says, anything would be an improvement. Perhas they'l make the access road a fraction less like a factory loading bay too. -- -Pip |

What in relation to this group is this caused by? -- It's a shame as the newsgroup was always good value, but I think a lot of discussions were started by non-regulars asking stuff about different resorts and conversations would follow. I guess newsgroups aren't the first (or even last) port of call any more. I think you're right, yes. For a while the group also served as a de-facto general skiing discussion group for mainly UK-based folk, but that need seems to have been filled by discussion forums like snowheads, which personally I just can't get on with at all. I only come in here occasionally nowadays, mainly because I do spend a lot of time on Snowheads. -- Alex Heney, Global Villager Mondays are the potholes in the road of life To reply by email, my address is alexATheneyDOTplusDOTcom |
