Burton AK 3L vs. ArcTeryx Sidewinder SV Jacket
Hey Chris,
I asked myself this exact question last year and ended up buying the Arcteryx Javelin SV (the javelin is made of a Gore-Tex softtech which is doesn't make that annoying swish swish sound with arm movement ;-) . I tried them both (and several others) on and found the arc to be a better fit and am soooo pleased with it I can't wait until tomorrow when I will be back in the snow!! Plus I felt the Arc had better construction with less bulk than the AK, not to mention it has a superbly designed hood. Don't know the longevity of either but so far mine has pretty much been everything you describe below - light, manuverable, bombproof, and the most important factor here in the PNW - waterproof! But really I think you would be pleased with either as long as you choose the one that fits you best. -tlf "chris" wrote in message om... hi. i'm looking at getting a new xcr-based jacket for the upcoming season, and was going to get the buton ak 3l, when a friend asked if i had looked at anything else. the sidewinder sv looks to be quite nice as well. any suggestions based on personal experience? i want a light, manuverable, bombproof, waterproof shell... thanks! --chris |
