Default Confused about Rossi X5 boots - are they skate or touring?

Hi,

I'm looking to replace our (mine and my wife's) old Alpina touring
boots. Both REI and Backcountry list Rossi X5 Saphir (women) and Rossi
X5 (men). REI represents both as touring, and they certainly look the
type - no heel strap, gaiter hook in front. However, they do have a
cuff which makes them look a lot like Rossi's skate boots (I have the
X6 skates, so I know the look).

Now, Backcountry lists the women's Saphir as both skate and touring,
which is a pretty weird combination:

Backcountry's Men's X5 is stranger still - a skate boot that goes on a
BC binding!

I wouldn't call REI for explanation - tried that before, pretty
useless. A guy at Backcountry was kind of clueless, too.

Here is the thing: I obviously like Backcountry's price which by the
way includes shipping. However, if these are in fact a skate/touring
monstrosity, I don't want to get a boot with too stiff a sole. If
anyone is familiar with these, I'd appreciate some advice.
