Default Binding placement on rollerskis?

I'm finally grabbing the time to mount up my new classic Jesenik
rollerskis. I've never mounted new RS before. I'm guessing I want them
somewhat tip-heavy as with classic skis. But what do I know! Here I go,
maybe wrecking my stuff! I tried googling for info, nada. OK, I just
tried again and found the SkiSkett website and they say to mount as
close to balance point as possible. Yeah, I was noticing with the
shortish shaft that my heel would basically be at the rear wheel to get
a slight tip-heavy mount. Jenex just says the point is "different" for
classic than skating. No mount info on Jesenik site. OK, I'm just going
for it. Time is short. I'm putting heel as far back as I can for modest
tip heavy. Onward!

Why tip-heavy? Do you really want to be dragging your front
wheel when you try to step turn? Or have you discovered a
way to carve on RS? ;-0

I wouldn't want the back wheel clunking either. You'd have a double thud as the
back hits, then the front.

My preference would be just _slightly_ tip heavy.

It depends on the shaft length:

racing stuff(530mm) you usually butt against rear wheel, training
skating (610mm or so) and classic you want some gap(25mm) for the
fender (mudguard).

I use cone shaped Allen screws instead of typical posidrive screw that
comes with binding (and designed for wood BW). Need to tap hole though.

You could have heavier Alu-hub wheel in front for tip-heavy had you not
opted for 35mm rubber wheel.

I've used rivets in the past for a real secure mounting.

Jesenik replied promptly to my email (get a reply from Len lately?) and said
to mount binding as rearward as possible. These shafts are shortish. I like
a bit tipheavy to, well, keep the front wheel down when I kick back and
perhaps help in tracking when bringing foot forward again.

Another adjustment for tip - heavy:

Take a posidrive screw that comes with the binding and screw it in
the return spring inside the binding (Salomon Pilot skating only).

That make the return spring a bit more enthusiastic to bring rollerski
back after push.

Installing spring with a screw in it a bit tricky - use fillips
screwdriver to push.
