Default Bindings don't stay on

Hi all - I just tried out my new K2 Virtue Bindings - I like them,
except that the top strap on my right (front) foot keeps coming undone.
One one run it actually came undone completely!

Is there maybe an easy fix to this, or do I have to deal with a
warranty claim?

I'm not sure, you might consider posting to
www.freecarve.com as PSR
there knows a lot of repairing/adjusting bindings (helped me with a
rachet ladder issues). He might take a few days to reply though.

Warranty might be your only option. See if the spring in the rachet is
bent.

Also, make sure that when the strap is closed the ratchet is resting on
a curve. Won't work well if the ratchet is too close to the base-plate
on the ladder side. In this scenario - the ladder is straight and the
ratchet will slide off because the teeth cannot latch onto the ladder.
Simple adjustment if this is the problem.

When that happened to me (rachet to close to the base-plate on the
ladder side). The rachet wouldn't release. I was given the same advice
(shorten the strap so the rachet doesn't get too close to the base on
the ladder side). Also I was told make sure the ladder was straight
(and not all bent and curved from been in a box for a long time).

Burton on the brain. They curve all their ratchet bases - work best
when located up near the big toe.

Impossible to diagnose without knowing more or inspecting it. Does the
latching mechanism work freely or is it sticking? Any chance the
strap has been changed? There are slight differences among various
makes and while they can look identical, upon closer inspection there
can be differences. I have Drake LTD bindings and had a strap
replaced at a resort. The replacement looked like it was right and
worked, but was always difficult to get to engage and ratchet in.
Eventually, I got the correct one from Drake and it was perfect again.

If you can't identify the problem, I'd contact the manufacturer, even
if it's not under warranty. I busted a heel cup on the Drakes, which
were way out of warranty. I called them up, told them what happened
(had the backs up and the lift chair came down on it while getting
off). In a couple mins, the tech offered to send me a new one for free.
In 2 days I had a box with two heel cups and a couple of extra
straps. They didn't even charge for shipping.
