I think Georgia has a ski area or two. Found one called Sky Valley:

There's also a ski area in Alabama, which is I believe farther south
than Sky Valley: see http://www.ski-guide.com/statemap.cfm/AL.htm

Now, can someone here tell me *why* anyone would want to find the
southern most snow skiing in the South East US ??

I went to summer camp at Cloudmont in the late 50s-early 60s, before they
built the slope. They also had at one time an astroturf slope for
year-round learning, must have been a hundred feet long or so. Oddly and
tragically, one of the owner's sons was killed by their snow-making
equipment shortly after they opened. I also did some of my earliest skiing
at Sky Valley, along with Cataloochee, Wolf Laurel, Sugar Mountain, and
Beech Mountain. Now I'm lucky enough to live in Ohio where they have even
less vertical.

But I did get out to Utah a couple of weeks ago. :-)
