Trip report - Craftsbury, Vermont - 25 Feb 2006

I skied today at the Craftsbury Nordic Ski Center. Conditions were
generally good, with the exception of a few well-marked icy spots.
There was a big collegiate race today (relocated from Middlebury due to
insufficient snow down there), but I stayed clear of that, spending most
of my time on the Grand Tour, which was somewhat less grand than usual,
with half of it closed. So instead of a loop, it was just an
out-and-back. The big warning was about a little bit of ice just north
of Craftsbury Village, near the [charmingly picturesque, quintessential
New England] gravel pit [just kidding]; not really worthy of all the
hype. During the afternoon a tiny amount of snow arrived, which perhaps
kicked up the conditions rating from "good" to "very good."

More snow fell further south in Vermont, but there may be enough new
snow, come tomorrow morning, to rescue the Stowe Derby.
