Question: Skis for lightweight guy
I'm thinking about buying Dynastar SkiCross 10.
I'm 5'4" (162cm) 125lb. Ski mostly on black trails. I heard SkiCross 10 got very good review, but I think ski test is usually done by guys heavier than me. Is SkiCross 10 suitable for a lightweight guy like me? Or SkiCross 9 is a better choice for me? The same question also applies to Atomic SX11 vs SX9 for me. I have limited knowledge about ski equipments. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks. |

Question: Skis for lightweight guy
I believe either the SkiCross 10 or 9 will work well for you. Dynastar has
an excellent reputation for making skis that work well for lighter weight skiers. The differences you will notice between the 10 and 9 will be that the 10 will have more energy and be more demanding while providing a firmer, harder feel. The 9 by contrast will give you a lighter, more agile feel that will not be as demanding and provide less snap at the finish of the turn. The biggest suggestion I can make is to no buy either ski too long. If you get a SkiCross 9 too long it will be more challenging to ski than a SkiCross 10. The proper length for the 03/04 SkiCross skis will be about nose to eyebrow height when standing in front of you. The models from previous years are designed to be skied a little bit longer. The SX11 will probably not work well under a lighter skier. It is a very demanding ski for a big aggressive skier. The SX9 is a bit more civilized. I feel that both of them respond well to powerful input. As such I don't think they would work well under a lighter skier. When I demoed them some middle weight ladies (obviously VERY good skiers) were returning the same skis in proper lengths for their size. Their comments were along the line of great skis for one run, maybe two but I don't want to work that hard all day. That aligns with my impressions of them from demo and I do have the weight to put them in their place. Aar "ST" wrote in message ... I'm thinking about buying Dynastar SkiCross 10. Question: Skis for lightweight guy
I like the SkiCross 9 better because the heel lift is lower. On the 10 I
feel I'm dancing on tip-toes. Aside from the binding mount platform, the two skis appear to be identical. I outweigh you by 30 pounds but I'm not a powerhouse, so maybe my experience is relevant.
