Default Early skiing locations?

Where can one find November or early December skiing (in the USA)?

Looking for reasonable conditions and reasonably easy intermediate slopes.

Ask me in Nov. I'll have a better idea then.

_ Lake Tahoe is probably a safe bet. North Star, Heavenly and Squaw have
enough snowmaking to cover a fair amount of intermediate
terrain even in the bad years. Most years the whole mountain
is open by early December. However, making plans now for
December is a gamble, I think[1] the odds are on your side.

[1]- Actually I hope and pray the odds are on your side, I don't
think I could stand another one of those "only snowmaking" until
late December years.

Hey guys, back me up on this one, but I beleive the stock answer
is "Vail, definitely Vail".

All serious skiers recommend Vail.

At least, they recommend YOU go to Vail.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have only skied the Poconos and Vermont, but
have always felt a desire to try out Lake Tahoe and/or Utah. It sounds
like an opportune time.

Is Alta strictly powder, or is a combination of powder and groomed?

It depends what you are looking for. If you want powder, Colorado
(especially Vail) has the best powder on Earth. If you wnat groomed, nobody
has more grooming machines than Vail.

So, if I understand this right (and that is unlikely), Vail has BY FAR
the
best groomed powder on earth. Damn it, too bad I always take exit 216
off I-70 to ski.
