Default New year in the Denver/Boulder area

Hi,

My brother and I (from England) are going to be in the Denver/Boulder
area over new year. I am wondering where would have a good night life
on new years eve. We would be very interested in ski resorts that
would have lots of drinking and socalising, but we expected there to
be more going on in a big town.

Would you recomend staying at the ski resorts, or head to a big city
for meeting people? Which ski resorts would be better for night life?
It seems to me that most people in Eorope would go skiing at this
time of the year with a group of friends, so it is a bit harder to
meet people at ski resorts.

Concerning the cities, I heard Boulder has a good night life, but
mainly student, so they are less likely to be about at new years?
Denver is the biggest city in the area, are we likely to find places
where we can meet people and have a laugh there?

Thanks for any advice. We have no idea what new year is like in the
states.
