Wacky new ski lift
So I'm nosing around looking for candidate resorts for the first trip of the season, and I come across this: http://www.orford.com/Anglais/framenewsEn.html It's a hybrid gondola, where eight passenger gondolas alternate with six passenger chairs on the same lift. Weird. I wonder if TCS knows about this? -- //-Walt // // The Volkl Conspiracy |

Weird. I wonder if TCS knows about this? I can't see where the advantage is in having both. I didn't see a manufacturer on their site either. After a quick look at Doppelmeyer's site, I'm pretty sure that it's theirs. If you look at this gondola pic from their site, you can see it's the same design. http://www.doppelmayr.com/images/get/seilbahnen/gondelbahnen_.jpg -- Alan Baker Vancouver, British Columbia "If you raise the ceiling 4 feet, move the fireplace from that wall to that wall, you'll still only get the full stereophonic effect if you sit in the bottom of that cupboard." |

Maybe they went broke after buying only a few gondolas, and bought a bunch of used 6-pak chairs to fill in the cable? Looks pretty silly to me. Who decides which person rides which device? Are there separate lines for the chairs and gondolas? I imagine the gondola seats would be more expensive, especially on cold days. "Just one moment, attendant. I'm wating for an indoor seat." Can anybody do that in French? |

After a quick look at Doppelmeyer's site, I'm pretty sure that it's theirs. If you look at this gondola pic from their site, you can see it's the same design. http://www.doppelmayr.com/images/get/seilbahnen/gondelbahnen_.jpg I think cabins can be made by a 3rd part company i.e. CWA CH (Don't worry im not a ski lift spotter) What happens when you get off the chair do you fall over the concrete rail track for the gondolas? |

It sounds to me like some field research is in order.
