Info on Les Menuires
I have booked a trip at les 3 vallées in Feb...am staying at hotel Le
menuire. I have never been there before so I would appreciate any info on the best areas for skiing, how easy it is to go between valleys, how about lift lines, the town (restaurants and bars), any other info. Thanks in advance. Luc |

m... I have booked a trip at les 3 vallées in Feb...am staying at hotel Le menuire. I have never been there before so I would appreciate any info on the best areas for skiing, how easy it is to go between valleys, Access from Les Menuires to the rest of the 3 valleys is pretty good. A nice days skiing would be to cross over to Meribel and work your way up the valley (preferably taking in the Mont du Vallon) to come back across higher up and into Val Thorens from where you can ski back down to Les Menuires. Alternatively you could go all the way over to Courchevel and back but then you do have to worry more about catching lifts in the afternoon to get 'home'. La Masse in Les Menuires is one of my favourite areas in the 3 valleys and very quiet because few people from the other resorts bother to go there. Also good are the "fourth valley" - Orelle, and the Cime de Caron both of which are easily accessible from Les Menuires. Skimaps.com have a good high res piste map of the whole area he http://www.skimaps.com/map2587 Luke ------------------------- http://www.snowgo.com |

Info on Les Menuires
I don't remember the name of the restaurant, but there's one in/outside a small village below Les Menuires that has very good food for very decent prices. It hasn't any star in Guide Rouge, but not because of the food but for other reasons (like too low prices...). Very recommended, if just someone can help with the actual name of it. /Tommy P. Tommy Maybe you mean Brewskis in St Martin de Belleville, I had Chicken Tandoori pie on Christmas day, and it was fabulous. IMHO the best skiing around Menuires is on La Masse, very underrated part of the 3 Vallees and some decent off piste accusable from it. Bill |

Bill While I don't remember the name I'm pretty sure it wasn't Brewskis. It's a place that from the outside look (or at least looked 3 years ago) like an old barn. There's only a few houses there, looks like nothing at all. The parking isn't classy, to say the least, but when you enter it looks like you entered a mansion and gone back maybe 100 years in time. Everything looks nice, the service is very good, the food is great (typical French menus but pretty healthy food and very arranged on the plates). We took a 4- or 5 course dinner, but got 7 with the complimentary "in- betweens". Maybe 40-45 Euros/person, including the wine, for a truly great meal. /Tommy P. |
